About the Stud

Key of Luck TARA STUD consists of 1,000 acres of top quality farm land, and is located on County Meath, just north of Dunshaughlin, along the main Dublin to Navan Road. The Meath Region is one of the most historic in Ireland - the Hill of Tara was the pre Christian domain of the High Kings of Ireland, while the Tara Brooch is one of the finest examples of early Irish craftmanship.

First established as a stud in 1906, Tara has a tradition of producing top quality racehorses, and amoung the Skyrnenotable Group & Stakes winners bred there in the recent years are HAYMAKING (Coronation Stks), WASSL (Irish 2000 Guineas), STAR WAY (Champion sire in New Zealand), THUNOR (Railway Stks), HAYLOFT (Molecomb Stks), ON TIPTOES (Queen Mary Stks), PRAGMATIC (Yorkshire Cup), EICHTERCUA (Curragh Stks), VERY WELCOME (Hong Kong Derby), UPPER STRATA, TRUCIDATOR, FAVORITE PRINCE (Champion in Germany), ROLO TOMASI and BROWN ALE. Amoung the Classic Sires to have stood at the Stud are Champion Stakes winner UMIDWAR and Eclipse Stakes winner WOLVER HOLLOW.
